Tămâioasă Românească, described by Jancis Robinson as the ‘frankincense grape’ due to its aroma, is one of the ancient varieties of Romania. Pale yellow, with intense flavors of elderberry, peaches, and ripe pears, an explosion of aromas starting from incense to pink grapefruit. It is recommended to be served at 8-10˚C. The wine is prepared entirely from grapes of the Pinot Noir variety coming from the Dealu Mare, the homeland of red wines in Romania, the seventh largest country producer of grapes in the world. The wine is produced by Aurelia Visinescu, a famous Romanian winemaker, known for her wines which reflect the character of the wine variety with a strong influence of the terroir. TASTING: Bright red with an intense note of red berries and dark chocolate. Soft and delicate, medium body with some tannins on the palate. It is recommended to be served at 16-18°C, along with poultry, Bolognese pasta, Moroccan and Lebanese food, Brie, or Camembert. This dry wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc, Fetească Alba (White Maiden), and Italian Riesling grapes. White Maiden is the most cultivated grape variety in Romania in terms of land occupied, as being perfectly adapted to the climate. White Feteasca has a great power of sugar accumulation in grapes, according to some specialists, between the highest in the world – reaching even 270g/l sugars in case of over-ripening. The superior white wines obtained are primarily dry, though demi dry or demi sweet are also produced, specially recognized for their delicate, elegant and well-balanced taste. TASTING: Greenish yellow, intense and persistent bouquet, floral with slight mineral hints. It is fresh, fruity, well-balanced, ample and persistent aftertaste. One may serve it as an aperitif or with fish, seafood, or chicken. Best served at 12-13˚C. The wine is prepared from grapes of Syrah and Pinot Noir varieties coming from the vineyard located in the Dealu Mare region, in Romania, the seventh largest country producer of grapes in the world. Grapes were harvested mid of September. Alcoholic fermentation occurred in stainless steel, followed by a few months of aging on lee. Free-run juice drained directly from the press was used for each variety. TASTING: Pink salmon in color, rich in intense raspberry and strawberry aromas. Full creamy taste, with some spice hints and a long-lasting finish. It is recommended to be served at the temperature of 6-8°C, accompanied by light dishes based on vegetables, barbecues, easy sauces, or spicy food. This dry red wine is intense ruby with purple hues and spicy notes of green pepper and dried fruits. A well-balanced and harmonious wine with a persistent finish. Busuioacă de Bohotin (Basil of Bohotin or simply BB) is a variety planted in a small limited area in the northeast side of Romania. The uniqueness of this Romanian variety is that it gives birth to pure rose wine. Its wine-making style implies an extended maceration on the violet skin of the grape. BB produces a wide range of high-quality wines, from mostly sweet and medium-sweet to dry and sparkling, with a good level of acidity for a beautiful and surprising balance. The primary taste is rose petals and basil (where the name comes from), with shades of honey, strawberries, and wild forest strawberries. The medium-sweet and dry wine go well with light meals like chicken, turkey, or fish, slightly spicy and seasoned. The wine is prepared entirely from the Sauvignon Blanc variety grapes and is made by famous Romanian winemaker Aurelia Visinescu. Dealu Mare vineyards make up the most compact Romanian viticulture area (about 15,000 hectares). The region is located in the Southern Carpathian hills and on the parallel 45°, in the select company of Bordeaux and Tuscany. The climate is temperate continental with cold winters and hot summers. Aurelia Visinescu, known for her wines, reflects the wine variety's character with the terroir's strong influence. Aurelia's wines are unique with personality, they are made with care, dedication and artistry. TASTING: Pale lemon, with intense aromas of wild grass, elderflowers, and lime. Refreshing taste on the palate, with grapefruit and lime hints on the finish. It is recommended to be served at 13-14°C. Excellent as an aperitif and alongside sea fish dishes. Feteasca Neagra, or Black Maiden and Black Fairy, is the jewel of Romanian indigenous grape varieties with a millennial history. Seeds of Feteasca Neagra were discovered in ancient vestiges from Romania, more than 2000 years old. It is considered to make some of the top red Romanian wines, exhibiting spicy, smoky fruit characters and good tannin structure. The maximum potential is reached after the maturation in oak barrels, followed by the aging in the bottle, resulting in high-quality wines with strong typing. The Dracula 555 is made by famous Romanian winemaker Aurelia Visinescu. TASTING: Intense red color wine, it has a unique character of dry plums, black fruit, and sweet spice with vanilla coming from aging in Romanian oak barrels. ( 30% new and 70% second time used South Romanian oak medium + and high toasted (a blend of Q.sesilliflora and Q. robur). Velvety texture and well balanced by the round tannins, silky on the palate; long, smooth aftertaste. It is recommended to be served at 16°C, along with lamb, pork, veal, and beef dishes. The wine is prepared entirely from grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon and Fetească Neagrǎ varieties coming from the Dealu Mare wine region, from Romania. Maturation for ten months in barrels of Romanian oak at the second cycle of use and aged in the bottle from 6 to 12 months. TASTING: Ruby red with purple impressions. Aromas of dried fruits with a light touch of oak and coffee hints. A well-balanced and harmoniously structured wine with a persistent finish. Best served at 15-17°C. One may serve it with lamb, red meat, matured cheese, and chocolate dessert. Negru de Drăgășani, or Black of Dragasani, is a recent red grape variety obtained after the mixing of two ancient grapes: the forgotten Negru Vârtos or Stout Black and Georgian grape Saperavi. It is planted in a limited area in Drăgășani, south of Romania. This wine has high content in anthocyanins and has the potential to give high-quality dry wines, fresh and fruity, suitable for aging in oak barrels that increases the complexity. TASTING: Intense red, with purple reflections. A bouquet of intense aromas of berries, cinnamon, and plums, along with velvety and persistent taste. It will be well suited with meat stew, beef fillets, with aromatic herbs. It is recommended to be served at 17°C.
