Origin Wine - Premium Collection focuses on three premium wine brands, Finca La Anita in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina, Le Grand Domaine in Devon Valley, Stellenbosch, South Africa, and Les Celliers de Vétroz in Valais, Switzerland. The owner, Bernard Fontannaz, has purchased Finca La Anita and Le Grand Domaine in 2016, and has been owning Les Celliers de Vétroz for two generations. The aim is to offer premium on-trade a new range of wines, made by women winemakers only, from Argentina, South Africa and Switzerland who are making wines in unique terroirs. The portfolio is new to the market and not yet distributed. Silvia Rizzo is representing the premium brands in the UK and seeking for distribution.
Finca La Anita is the first premium estate winery in Alto Agrelo, Mendoza. The first vineyard dedicated to premium wine which was purchased in the 1990s by chemical engineer Manuel Mas at a time when the wine industry in Argentina was focusing on mass-production. It covers 72 hectares, a combination of high-altitude (1,000mt) plantings of largely Bordeaux varieties served by the ideal combination of rich soils and the natural water stream of the Andes Mountains.
Le Grand Domaine is a small winery located on top of Devon Valley, Stellenbosch and the cellar is led by Debbie Thompson, one of the first women winemakers in Stellenbosch, who earned the title of "South African Woman Winemaker of the Year" in 2005 and the nickname "South Africa's First Lady of Pinotage. The vineyard is 10 hectares, south-east steep slopes facing, looking over the Stellenbosch Mountains. It was replanted with new rootstocks in clay soil.
Les Celliers de Vétroz is a boutique winery founded by the Fontannaz family, nestled in the hills of Valais, the largest wine region in the heart of the Alps in Switzerland. The vineyards cover 5 hectares on south facing steep slopes, between 500 and 700 meters above sea level in a so-called alpine terroir with mineral-rich soil, marl, and limestone. We grow 13 different grapes over 5 hectares, mostly local, Amigne, Petite Arvine, Humagne Rouge and Cornalin. Our mission is to bring Switzerland to the UK, by making wines that are truly unique to the country.
