Short description

Maison Wessman encompasses two estates in Southwest France – Château de Saint-Cernin and Vignobles des Verdots.

Our grapes comes from Monbazillac, the limestone soils of Périgord and Limoux. The aim is to produce wines that show the diversity of terroir with a focus on sustainable viticulture and minimising carbon footprint. Both estates produce a premium range alongside the accessible Saint-Cernin de Héritage and La Source des Verdots.

Maison Wessman offers two cuvées under Champagne Wessman One.

Heritage de Saint Cernin white

Appellation: AOP Bergerac Grape variety: Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle A little-known land, with a pronounced south-western accent and fantastic limestone soils, whose undeniable qualities are just waiting to be revealed. An expressive nose with citrus and floral notes. A palate with a pleasant freshness and aromas of yellow broomflowers offered by the Sauvignon Blanc. The Muscadelle andSemillon grapes bring roundness and fruitiness on mid-palate and a saline finish.

Heritage de Saint Cernin Rosé

Appellation : AOP Bergerac Grape variety : Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mérille A little-known land, with a pronounced south-western accent and fantastic limestone soils, whose undeniable qualities are just waiting to be revealed. A well-balanced palate with a nice freshness and hints of strawberry, expression of the Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Merille brings roundness to the palate. It is an indigenous south-west grape variety that has made its come back in our vineyard. Using this local grape varieties makes this wine authentic and atypical.

Heritage de Saint Cernin Red

Appellation: AOP Bergerac Grape variety: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec A little-known land, with a pronounced south-western accent and fantastic limestone soils, whose undeniable qualities are just waiting to be revealed. An expressive nose with notes of red fruits and a hint of spices. A flavorful and fruity mouth with a pleasant freshness on the palate, silky tannins and a nice roundness.

Heritage de Saint Cernin Moelleux

Appellation: AOP Côtes de Bergerac Colour : Moelleux Grape variety: Sémillon and Muscadelle Residual sugars: 95 g/L A little-known land, with a pronounced south-western accent and fantastic limestone soils, whose undeniable qualities are just waiting to be revealed. This wine is a blend of 90% Sémillon and 10% Muscadelle. The grapes are hand-picked in a single pass when they reach ideal maturity. We use 2/3 of botrytised grapes to achieve a good balance between sugar and acidity. An expressive nose with notes of saffron, pear and acacia honey. A pleasing and well-balanced palate with aromas of candied fruits and hazelnut carried by the Muscadelle and the Sémillon.

Petit Cernin white

Appellation: AOP Limoux Grape varieties: 100% Chardonnay Petit Cernin Blanc is composed of manually harvested 100% Chardonnay grapes cultivated at an altitude of around 350 meters in "La Serpent". It expresses the perfect balance between the richness of Oceanic terroir’s wines and the freshness of wines from Haute Vallée terroir. It is vinified exclusively in oak barrels for a minimum of 7 months and carefully stirred every 15 days.

Petit Cernin red

Appellation: AOP Bergerac Petit Cernin Rouge is composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced mainly from our young vineyards in Périgord, one of the most renowned gastronomic regions of France, in the exceptional terroir of the Plateau d’Issigeac. It exhales a powerful bouquet of red fruits dominated by blackcurrant and completed by flowery notes of violet, black pepper and cloves. Good structure of wrapped tannins. It has an astonishing long finish, elegant and fresh.

Saint Cernin N°1 white

Saint Cernin N°1 red

Appellation: AOP Bergerac Grape-varieties: 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon N°1 Saint-Cernin Rouge is an ultra-premium wine produced in Périgord region, on the distinctive terroir of the Plateau d’Issigeac. This masterpiece offers scents of great complexity, combining cherry, subtle truffle, hazelnut and spicy notes. The aromatic palate shows complexity, concentration and breadth. The smooth acidity adds a subtle freshness and a long finish wrapped in remarkably fine tannins giving a thoroughly elegant wine.

Appellation: AOP Bergerac Grape variety: Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Sémillon and Muscadelle This range is of great elegance and will accompany you in your beautiful moments of conviviality. The whites are partly matured in barrels, which gives them the right balance between finesse and power. They can be enjoyed now or kept for a few years.

Appellation: AOP Côtes de Bergerac This range is of great elegance. They are partly matured in barrels, which gives them the right balance between finesse and power. They can be enjoyed now or kept for a few years. Produced from the estate's old vines, this cuvée is made from a blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Its character and density are the result of its maturation in different barrels, previously used for our Grand Vin range

Château les Tours des Verdots Monbazillac

Appellation: AOP Monbazillac Sélection de Grains Nobles Grape variety: Sémillon and Muscadelle Capacity: 500 ml Residual sugars: 150 g/L This range is of great elegance and will accompany you in your beautiful moments of conviviality. The red, the dry white or the Monbazillac are all partly matured in barrels, which gives them the right balance between finesse and power. They can be enjoyed now or kept for a few years. This wine is a blend of 75% Semillon and 25% Muscadelle, made from a selection of botrytised grapes. These grapes are submitted to successive sorting to pick only the perfectly ripe bunches. The wine’s richness and body are the result of its ageing in barrels for 24 months.

Grand Vin les Verdots white

AOP Bergerac Sec Grape variety: Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Sémillon and Muscadelle Le Grand Vin is designed for wine lovers and epicureans; it will delight the taste buds of the most experienced for many years. This wine is made from a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sauvignon Gris, 5% Muscadelle and 15% Semillon, from the oldest vines on the property, located on the qualitative limestone plateau of Issigeac. It is the extra care we provide to our grapes, with sorting them directly on the vine and harvesting by hand, that makes this wine exceptional. The wine gets its substance and richness from its fermentation and maturation on lees in new barrels for 12 months.

Grand Vin les Verdots red

Appellation: AOP Côtes de Bergerac Grape variety: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon Le Grand Vin is designed for wine lovers and epicureans; it will delight the taste buds of the most experienced for many years. This wine is made from a blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon from a selection of our best terroirs, on clay soil over limestone. The attentive care we provide to the vines, the manual harvest and the ageing in new French oak barrels, are all reasons that make this wine a Grand Vin.

Wessman One Brut Premier Cru

AOP: Champagne Grape-varieties : 75% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay Dosage: 8 to 9 g/L This Brut White AOP is crafted from a blend of 75% Pinot Noir from Aÿ 100% Cru village, and 25% Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs. These two terroirs ensure an excellent balance and a delightful freshness. Champagne Wessman One is the quintessence of Brut White with a complexity, a purity and an exceptional freshness for a memorable tasting experience.

Wessman One Rosé Premier Cru

AOP: Champagne Dosage : 8 à 9 g/L Champagne Wessman One is for people who are looking for an authentic, intense rosé champagne. The exceptional qualities of this genuine Brut Rosé will surpass the expectations of even the hardest to please Champagne enthusiast. Not for the timid, this AOP Brut Rosé is crafted from a blend of 55% Pinot Noir, from Aÿ 100% Cru village, and 45% Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs, 100% Cru Oiry village. The two terroirs ensure the excellent balance between the freshness and sugar.
