The González Byass wine story began in Jerez in 1835, when young entrepreneur Manuel María González started out as a wine trader. Rapid success led him into wine production, helped by his uncle José Ángel, known affectionately as Tio Pepe, after whom he named his first solera. Almost 200 years later it is still very much a family concern and is now in the hands of the fifth generation of winemakers.
Today the family owns 14 wineries, producing premium wines and spirits in Spain, Chile, and Mexico, where they are fully committed to preserving the natural environment for the generations to come.
González Byass UK is a subsidiary of the historic González Byass business and opened in 2004.
We distribute a considerable portfolio of wines and spirits from Spain, as well as wines from carefully selected complementary brands from around the globe.

The wine shows hints of ripe yellow apple, white peach, spicy notes of pepper and subtle hints of papaya; the palate is pronounced with a salty character, juicy fruit and lively acidity that complement the long lasting and powerful mouthfeel. The name Federspiel is derived from falconry which was a very popular leisure time activity among the nobility in medieval times. The falcon stands for the remarkable elegance of these dry white wines. Well chilled, it is an ideal accompaniment to classic Austrian cuisine such as pasta ham bake or roasted brains with eggs. It also goes perfectly with Italian antipasti, a Mediterranean shakshuka or more exotic dishes like Paneer Tikka (Indian grilled cream cheese). Vegan.

Pale yellow colour. Expressive and intensely mineral nose, already very developed and showing crisp citrus fruit aromas, mandarin skins, almost lightly exotic but with a firm presence of rock influence (wet stones, some flint). The texture on the palate combines power and crisp acidity. The mouthfeel is really beautiful, develops into a silky structure, which eventually finishes with a tight, dry and precise finish. The very low yield in 2021 explain this rare combination of intensity and elegance without needing to reach high ripeness levels. A Zind that shows the potential of the Windsbuhl and will improve greatly with time. Vegan & Organic

This wine has an attractive bouquet and brings together aromas of lime, white nectarine, hazelnut and flinty mineral aromas. Tightly structured palate and bouquet blend into a subtle harmony. This wine combines grace with a well defined character and a remarkable concentration. Food pairing: Salmon, smoked duck, shellfish. Vegan

Just 600 cases were made of this single vineyard, single block, single clone wine. The fruit comes from Block 2 of Jackson Estate’s Somerset vineyard which has the company’s only planting of the Bordeaux clone BDX316. This clone produces premium fruit with melon, peach and quince characters. Initial fermentation was with wild yeast and post-ferment the wine sat on its lees for nine months. The resulting wine is somewhere between a fresh, lifted Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc style and a textured, layered, more complex style. It has up-front presence and lift but due to the lees and wild yeast influence has definite legs for cellaring and is drinking superbly now.

Named after the emblematic cedar tree that dominates Quinta do Noval’s terrace, Cedro is an authentic expression of the Douro. Principally made up of Portuguese varieties, it also contains Syrah, which rounds out the fruit and gives the wine tremendous charm and accessibility. Cedro do Noval 2020 reveals a deep colour. The nose is intense with fruity aromas especially of ripe red fruits, as well as beautiful wooden notes associated with spices and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is concentrated, the fruit notes are expressive and the freshness is very evident. It has a long and complex aftertaste with tannins that balance the wine very well. Although delicious to drink now, this wine has an excellent cellaring potential.

Upon entry to Wirra Wirra, every visitor passes Woodhenge, a 10-tonne post and rail fence made from raw, ancient redgum trunks. Built by hand, it is reminiscent of a fence from an early settler’s bush cottage, that is, if the cottage was inhabited by giants. Woodhenge endures as a monument to the late re-builder of Wirra Wirra, Greg Trott, his grandiose ideas and unique vision. Rich and full-bodied, the depth of fruit generosity is wrapped around grainy, wellstructured tannins. The combination gives both volume and length to the palate. The characters of dusky-red ripe fruits, oak derived spices and cedar notes, and the savoury, mineral tannins have combined for layered complexity. Pleasingly, this very substantial wine remains fresh and youthful throughout, with the promise of great things to come. Food match: Dry aged grilled steak, or a roast of kipflers, butternut, leek and garlic.

Beronia Mazuelo Reserva is an intense, deep garnet colour. Very attractive on the nose, the stand-out aromas are of stewed fruit over a background of spices – clove and black pepper – along with notes of menthol that add freshness. Lastly, hints of sweetness appear that are reminiscent of quince paste, bring the finishing touch to a huge array of aromas. On the palate, the first flavours to appear bring to mind ripe fruit with slight touches of sweetness. This is a strong, powerful, complex yet fresh wine, very well structured with a pleasant aftertaste

A medium-high intensity wine with cherry red tones and persistent legs. Intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as blackberry, blueberry and plum. It also shows floral notes, spices such as black pepper, clove and vanilla, and balsamics which intensify in the glass. You can also find fine notes of toasted oak. On the palate well balanced with good acidity and slightly sweet entrance. A smooth wine however with body, long and round tannins. On the mouth fruit, spices and notes of oak. Long and persistent finish.

Dominio Fournier 2019 is intense and clean in the nose, with aromas of dark fruit, spicy notes and liquorice. On the palate is fresh, elegant, balanced and with a long finish.

Pretty, deep golden colour with touches of amber and delicate tears. Piquant, with prominent nutty notes. Smooth on the palate, pleasant, with a long finish. Rounded and well balanced, express the splendour of the flor, whilst clearly reflecting the albariza soli. An old, refined Fino.

Leonor by Antonio Flores is described as the wild child of Jerez. Due to its mysterious ageing process it could be described as similar to an Amontillado on the nose and similar to an Oloroso on the palate. Leonor shows a light mahogany colour with golden tones and slightly orange rim. On the nose intense and complex with typical Amontillado notes such as hazelnuts perfectly balanced with other aromas such as bitter orange and mature oak. On the palate powerful and intense with toasted notes yet smooth and silky.

This is a wine that is both big and light at the same time, with an elegant sweetness that makes it uniquely delicious. The significant sugar level and long ageing provide a seducing and velvety yet complex palate, where the nuttiness of the Palomino Fino grape is also showing. Less than 2000 bottles available of this limited wine.

Dark ruby in colour, with an expressive nose initially showing ripe berry fruit and violet with subtle influences of wood and spice adding depth. The palate is pure and structured, with a core of rich, sweet fruit, held together by a lively acidity and smooth yet persistent tannin. The freshness of the wine reflects its young age and shows wonderfully when served chilled with dark chocolate.

A subtle tawny colour. It is the youngest of the Noval tawnies with age indication. A complex nose, aromas of vibrant, young fruit blend with the tertiary characteristics of dried fruits and nuts. Rich and smooth on the palate, with an elegant structure and a long finish. It can be served slightly chilled as an aperitif, or as a digestive at the end of a meal.

Deep yellow-gold colour. Spicy, fruity nose with blood-orange, tangerine, honey and santal tree aromas. The palate is rich, mouthfilling and structured with some tannins in the finish. Outstanding aperitif. Perfect accompaniment to foie gras. Also excellent with sea-fish dishes made with creamy sauce and lemon, duck dishes with fruit, and not so sweet desserts, fruits and cheeses.
