Esk Valley River Gravels Merlot/Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon
Sourced from just three tiny vineyard blocks comprising Omahu 1a and 1b soils of greywacke river gravel, silt and sand strewn in the wake of the 1867 Ngaruroro River flood. Infertile and heat reflective, they produce wines of great power and structure. This serious and accomplished blend truly gives the wines of that other much-vaunted gravelly region a run for their money. Rich aromas of black fruit and fragrant spicy oak dominate this sumptuous red wine. The palate is full-bodied with incredible concentration of supple, rich ripe fruit, smooth ripe tannins, beautifully integrated oak and great complexity.
