RCV Pink Port

An alternative style of Port, where creativity is highly represented in our experimentation & innovation category. Seeking for new consumers & new forms of consumption, we recommend this Port to be served as a mixer. The grapes are crushed on a pneumatic press followed by its vinification with no maceration. The fermentation is then interrupted with the addition of the brandy as is traditional for Port. Its ageing occurs in stainless steel in order to preserve its freshness & aromatic character. Tasting Notes: This elegant & smooth Port shows great aromatic character with evident notes of red fruit & herbs. On the palate, it reveals round red fruit notes & a lively acidity, which combined with a balanced sweetness results in a long, persistent finish. Food Pairing: Enjoy this fresh Rosé as an aperitif served plain, or as a Port Tonic. Try it with a dry sparkling wine or as a long drink with ice, ginger beer & lemon peel. Serving Temperature: Store bottles in a cool, dry place & away from direct light (16C). Serve at 12C. Once opened it preserves it’s flavours & characteristics for at least 3 months. Keep it in the fridge all the time to keep it's freshness.

RCV Medium Dry White Port

The Royal Oporto Medium Dry White is an alternative style of Port: the brandy is only added at the end of the fermentation process, there is still some sugars left to preserve the mature figs notes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature in contact with the skins until the addition of the brandy. The wine then ages in oak vats for a period of 18 months. Tasting Notes: A White Port that is fresh yet with some complex notes of hazelnut & honey making it versatile to drink. With a straw-like yellow colour & ripe fruity & nutty aromas, this Port can be enjoyed as an aperitif or after a meal. Food Pairing: Enjoy this fresh & aromatic Port as an aperitif or after a meal. Fabulous with a cheese board & honey roasted nuts. Serving Temperature: Store bottles in a cool place away from direct light (16C). Serve at 10-12C. Once opened it preserves it’s flavours & characteristics for at least 3 months. Keep it in the fridge to keep its freshness.

Dandy Red

“A fine, attractive wine, and somewhat quaint. Does it not remind us of a Dandy?” – That is precisely our point! A wine that is made from a very simple idea: to make a fresh, light (low-alcohol), easy drinking wine, which just like a DANDY, it is charming and engaging. The Dandy red is made from three very original grapes: Tinta Roriz, Tinta Francisca and Viosinho. By picking very early, we are able to find lightness, and fresh red fruit character and low alcohol content. The Viosinho, as a white grape, brings an exotic and original side “palhete style” with very soft tannins. A wine to pair with “giggles”, and enjoy at any moment… !

Monte da Capela Curtimenta- Orange

We couldn't agree more Frank. This orange wine makes me smile with every sip. If you like your skin fermented wines with a bit less extraction, with more balance & elegance... Then this is the one for you! Tasting Notes: Jamie Goode tried this vintage this year and here is his tasting note. ‘This is a skin macerated white from the Alentejo. It has a full yellow colour and a nose of honey, citrus, orange peel & spice. The palate is powerful, vivid, intense & concentrated with marmalade & lime flavours, juicy acidity, & a little bit of structure. I love the freshness & density here: it’s a really striking wine.’ - We couldn't say it any better! Serving Suggestions: Due to its extra tannin structure it is able to compete with spicy chorizo, lamb, aubergine, walnuts & tahini. Serving Temperature: 14-15C.

Monte da Capela Sweet Red

Wine Making: For some people fortified wines are too strong to be an everyday drinking sweet red wine. That is where this amazing Natural Sweet Red from Casa Clara fits the bill perfectly. They achieved this style by using overripe grapes (just Trincadeira) interrupting the fermentation by decreasing the temperature, preventing malolactic fermentation from occurring. This is to preserve the freshness & acidity in the wine. Sounds simple but it is something only achieved by extremely talented winemakers. Not only is the 500ml bottle presented in this suave packaging but the wine inside is exceptional too. Tasting Notes: Garnet in colour with a combination of fresh bouquet & hints of raspberry & blackberry. On the palate, the wine shows a good balance between soft sweetness & rich acidity. Food Pairing: It is generally thought that a sweet wine goes with sweet food but also considering salt is sweets best friend it matches with food like salted pretzels, cheese & olives. Of course it also goes with plum compote, roast figs, dark chocolate desserts or brownies. Serving Temperature: Slightly chilled at 12°C -14°C.

C Capela White

Winemaking: 2020 was a good year for some but a great year for this expressive 50/50 blend. The other whites from their estate in this year are full of good acidity, elegance & freshness. The grapes are destemmed before pressing then fermentation is undergone with selected yeasts. After this it is aged on fine lees for 2 weeks. Tasting Notes: An appealing citrus coloured wine that has lovely tropical aromas such as pineapple tangerine on the nose with a little touch of fresh hay. On the palate, the wine is smooth & fresh, with a very harmonious medium to long finish. Food Pairings: If you get a chance to try a Portuguese seafood cataplana then this is a lovely wine for it. An easier match to find is roast pork, spicy Thai dishes & asparagus omelette. Serving Temperature: Serve chilled 10-12C.

C Capela Red

Winemaking: A year of turmoil for the vines, leads to extra fresh & fruity wines! The year started with a cold, dry winter. The spring continued cold but with a lot of rain, which delayed the start of the vegetative cycle. In summer, temperatures were lower than the average & maturation ended later than usual. These atypical conditions contributed to the production of a more fresh & aromatic style of wine. Typically Mediterranean climate with a strong continental influence & huge temperature variations. Grapes are carefully selected both during the harvest & in the cellar. The grapes are de-stemmed before crushing, then proceed to maceration over a period of 5 days. Tasting Notes: Beautiful garnet colour. On the nose, the wine shows a fresh red fruit aroma with balsamic & some spiced notes. On the palate the wine has smooth tannins, with a lighter aftertaste than expected, mingling with notes of wild fruit & warm spices that confirm the aromatic sensations. Food Pairing: Alentejo is a region full of wonderful rich food born primarily out of poverty & resourcefulness. Popular local dishes like lamb stew, black pork, pork ribs & grilled octopus are lovely with this wine. Serving Temperature: 15-16C.

Lapa Clarete Red

We are very proud to introduce another clarete to our range, with a stunning vintage label to pair perfectly with an ancient technique! This isn’t a red, isn’t a white, its a clarete! Intrigue your customers with this very different style of winemaking, but grab it while our stocks last as there is a limited quantity available! Winemaking Process: This Claret wine was crafted from selected grapes of the Fernão Pires (white) & Castelão (red) varietals. A lesser used practice of co-fermentation of the red & white musts, following a short period of skin contact for colour & flavour. Tasting Notes: Pale ruby in colour with bright sanguine hues, intense fruity aromas reveal hints of sweet & morello cherries. Vibrant strawberry & red apple flood your senses with your first sip, revealing a tart sourness on the palate that adds to the freshness. Excellent mouthfeel & length, with lingering fruit. Vergel White - Organic

This wine is the result of old Airén vines, a Spanish indigenous grape variety, cultivated in the traditional way in non-irrigated vineyards, and Sauvignon Blanc, of which yields were controlled (less than 0,50 kg/vine) to obtain maximum concentration & aromatic complexity. All attention was dedicated to respecting the natural environment and terroir, using organic agriculture & hand picking during the cooler hours in the morning in order to preserve the grapes ́ integrity, but also to limit the risks of oxidation. After a smooth pressing & delicate racking of the must, fermentation is started with indigenous yeasts in order to display the typical characteristics of the area. For aromatic expression, the temperature is controlled daily. The fermentation is followed by the process of leaving the wine on fine lees for several weeks. Tasting Notes: Pale yellow with golden reflections. Aromas of ripe fruit (peach, apricot, guava), white flowers and spices (ginger, white pepper) and hint of butter. Powerful, sweet & broad on the palate. An elegant wine, with traditional in mind, yet modern in style. Food Pairing: As an aperitif, with spicy Spanish paella with chorizo or Green Thai cuisine. Cepa 50 - Organic

History & tradition define this wine made exclusively from organic Monastrell grapes, which is the indigenous variety of the region. From their oldest vines at 45 years. No irrigation & large temperature changes putting stress on the vines, a roundness beyond its years is created. When every bunch of grapes reaches its optimum stage of ripeness, the grapes pass through a very soft de-stemming and crushing process. The temperature is maintained at 22°C during the first days of fermentation in stainless steel tanks & afterwards it is increased to 28°C until fermentation is finished. The lower temperature preserves flavours of fresh fruits, while the following higher temperatures helps to maximize intensity of the colour & extraction of ripened tannins. Tasting Notes: Ruby red with blue overtones. Aromas of ripe fruits, plums, cherries, mineral notes with a spicy, vanilla background. Mildness & balance is emphasized together with velvety, flavoursome tannins. A wine of surprising richness, capable of displaying the nuances of Pinoso. Food Pairing: Extremely complimentary when paired with Indian cuisine. Serving Temperature: 15-17°C

LApa Pinot Noir Red

There are producers trying to grow Pinot Noir in various regions of Portugal, but for me one of the best is Tejo. The Pinot Noir here is beautifully balanced mainly as it is closer to the Atlantic & the Tejo river. As a Pinot Noir lover I really appreciate the notes of blueberries, cassis & forest freshness. On the palate smooth, velvety with ripe raspberries & cherries. 2nd & 3rd flavours starting to evolve like mushrooms & autumnal spices. Potential of aging for another 8 years. Rest 12 months in French oak and 1 year in the bottle before released into the market.
